Hada Labo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Face Masks
Price: HKD79/4 sheets | HKD 108/12 sheets
Sheets per box: 12 MADE IN JAPAN
As part of my haul with the Mandom Beauty masks, I also picked up this box of 12 to see if it will live up to its intensive hydration claims when its original Gokujyun moisturizing line came out a couple years ago.
Owned by Japan’s Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Hada Labo is a Japanese skincare brand that focuses mainly on humectant hydration. Having three distinctive lines–the original Gokujyun moisturizing line in the white packaging, the Shirojyun brightening line in the blue packaging, and the Gokujyun Alpha anti-aging line in the red packaging, the mainstay of all three lines is intensive hydration, in particular through the use of hyaluronic acid to varying degrees depending on the level of hydration each line promises to deliver.
For all intents and purposes, my skin is combination-dry and generally sensitive to artificial and floral scents in skincare. In regards to the packaging, the sheet mask is quite standard in terms of it being individually packaged, but I do feel that it could do much better with its fit and cut as I noticed that the mask tore quite easily when fitting it onto one’s face; in addition, for an intensively hydrating mask, it lacks the amount of essence I would expect it to actually have. In fact, I was expecting some extra essence in the packet for me to squeeze out, much like what I had with the Mandom Beauty ones, but alas, the packet didn’t actually have any left in it after I’d taken out the mask. I double checked to make sure that it wasn’t near its expiration date in an attempt to explain its lack of essence in the packets…but after further research, it seems like that this was just how the mask was formulated and packaged.
In terms of the hydration level, perhaps it’s just my skin but I didn’t really feel like this mask did much for my skin. It wasn’t as hydrating as I thought it would be; in fact, the only aspect I could take away from this was that it was scent-free and a safe drugstore option in the event I had to quickly grab face masks from the drugstore. Other than that, I sort of wish I’d just picked up more of the Mandom Beauty ones instead of getting this one because really, it didn’t hydrate my face anymore than it was to begin with 😦
Needless to say, once I’m done with this box, I’m not repurchasing it. 😦
