In combination with the Salcura Bioskin Face Cleanser, I was also asked to try out this serum, which, luckily for me I guess, I had an eczema breakout on my face that I could put the cleanser and the serum to the test. Developed specifically for adults and children above 12 years old who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea and dry, itchy and sensitive skin, the serum provide rapid itch relief while penetrating deeper into the skin cells at the beginning of their life cycle and to make them healthier by the time they reach the surface and so we would be less likely to present with the symptoms that normally come with the ailments mentioned earlier.

All right. Enough of the science blabber. How did this work for me?

After washing and toning my face, I applied this serum twice a day, and I massaged in a little more in the affected areas before continuing with my moisturizer. I found that the light gel formulation of this serum was easy to spread and massage onto my face and I could easily integrate it into my sensitive skincare routine; the serum was absorbed quickly and my face felt comfortable. I didn’t experience any (further) red patches or intensifying of the ones already on my face; in fact, after using this serum for about two weeks, my red patches ceased to be itchy and the redness subsided.

I’m currently dealing with the after-effects of the eczema subsiding and that’s the flaking part 😦 However, I noticed that the serum is slowly helping with the shedding of the eczema patch and revealing normal, healthy and happy skin underneath. 🙂 Normally, I can only (really) achieve that effect when I use hydrocortisone cream that pretty much kills it on contact, the redness subsides and the flakiness starts; however, it should also be noted that every time you use hydrocortisone or any steroid-based cream, although the effects are immediate, the affected area is thinned out and it’s much more susceptible to a flare up later on. I’m completely fine with using a little more time to deal with this recurring issue when I know that I’m using a more natural method and not steroids to deal with it.

If I think about it, I’m really doing my skin a favour here 🙂

Now, like many people who suffer from skin conditions such as eczema and generally have sensitive skin, it’s more pertinent that they know about the ingredients in the product, because they probably have a running list of ingredients that do and do not work for their particular case, and I am no stranger to that:

Purified Water (Aqua)
Glycerin (Vegetable)
Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus seed oil)
Safflower Oil (Carthamus tinctorius Seed oil)
Grape Vine Oil (Vitis vinifera seed oil)
Isononyl Isononanoate
Potassium Hydroxide
Sea Buckthorn Oil (Hippophae rhamnoides kernel extract)
Eucalyptus Oil (Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil)
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia leaf oil)
Orange Oil (Citrus aurantium dulcis peel oil expressed)
Acrylates/c10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer
Caprylyl Glycol
Mineral Solution (Sodium Chloride)
Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia extract)
Olive Oil (Olea europaea fruit oil)
Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil)
Rosemary Extract (Rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract)
Lavendin Oil (Lavandula hybrida oil)
Camphor Tree Leaf Oil (Cinnamomum camphora formosana leaf oil)
Linalyl Acetate
Pine Leaf Twig Extract (Pinus species twig extract)
Rosemary Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil)
Peppermint Oil (Mentha piperita oil)
Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder)

For the most part, none of the ingredients in the serum has aggravated or further exacerbated my eczema; in fact, it’s worth a mention here that the company’s mandate is to use high quality and natural ingredients while avoiding ingredients that are widely accepted to be unsuitable for sensitive or problem skin. This is a definite plus for me! ❤

Having tried this serum out, I would re-purchase this product on the basis of keeping it handy in my skincare cabinet, because not only do I have a separate sensitive skincare routine for flare ups, I know for sure that this serum will be a staple item that can help soothe, calm and repair my eczema patches and I can rest assured that I can start and stop with this serum whenever my skin conditions improve ❤
