Révive Arrête Booster C Review

Continuing with my Winter Skin Care post, the Révive Arrête Booster C serum is a powerful Vitamin C treatment that helps to even out skin tone while improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Upon pumping out a pea sized amount for the whole face, the serum is sherbet-like with a pleasant citrusy scent that dissipates quickly after massaging it in.

I found that the dark acne scar on my right cheek that I’ve had for the past several months started healing and peeling faster; as such, the darkness of the scar has lightened up considerably and now I can use less concealer on it when I put on my makeup. In terms of my overall complexion, I noticed that my skin seems brighter and more even-toned considering that I have small but spaced out clusters of old acne scars around my jawline, chin and a (large) one on my right cheek; the dark shade around the scars have lightened up and I noticed that although there is a slight peeling effect, my skin doesn’t feel any drier than usual; rather, I feel like a snake shedding its skin to reveal smoother and more even-toned skin underneath.

For the nerdy ones amongst us, the ingredients in this Booster are as noted below:

Cyclomethicone, Ascorbic Acid, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polysilicone-11, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Retinol, Propylparaben

I noticed that there’s retinol in the ingredients in addition to the Ascorbic Acid (i.e. Vitamin C) which would explain the peeling and regenerative properties of the serum. However, this didn’t have the usual drying effects that retinol-based products have, which makes my combination-dry skin very happy ❤

All in all, I noticed that it’s no longer being sold so I’m not so much a happy camper anymore; this serum is by no means an inexpensive product but it’s worth every drop as based on its properties, my skin doesn’t end up dried out and flaky in order to peel and regenerate new skin; the serum does so by slowly shedding a little bit over time and you end up with brighter and happier skin ❤

Ohh, I’m so bummed this is discontinued! I’ve read a lot about formulating vitamin C serums, and that silicone-based serums can help preserve the ascorbic acid better and are a more effective vehicle for it. Sounds like they’re onto something. Great review!
